Day 7 London, Window shopping at Harrods, The Tower of London and the Tower Bridge

We started the day off with a beautiful 'all you can eat' buffet breakfast for £10 each at the motel resturaunt - Thyme! After filling our bursting bellies with fresh croissants, bacon, eggs, hash browns, toast, crumpets, muffins and so much more, we caught the tube (which we are now getting pretty good at!) from Earls Court to Knightsbridge.

A Police 'watch box' Dr Who maybe??

There we wandered through the magnificent and expensive, Harrods. Harrods is owned by the father of the man who was to marry Princess Diana, and is full of absolutely everything, from kitchen wear to technology, from jewels to children's toys and candy! It is absolutely unbelievable!

Harrods

Candy Store in Harrods. I looked and the cheapest item in there was a small box containing around 10 jelly beans, the price, around £10 (about $20)!!!

Toy Store in Harrods

A little art piece worth £120 000 - the ring rolls along the block, and the look on Katie's face when she thought Lexie had knocked it, and it was about to roll on the floor, was priceless!! Especially as there are signs everywhere saying... "you break it, you pay for it" - very funny, hence why we moved to the toy section quickly, however that was not much better when there was stuffed toys selling for £3000!

We then hopped onto the tube once again and caught it to Green Park, where we swapped to the Jubilee route and carried on to Bond Street. The street was full of people, everyone wanting to go in different directions, and the tall, old buildings towered over the roads and footpaths. We walked down Bond Street window shopping and browsing in different stores like R.M. Williams, Top Shop and various little suvonier carts and pop-out shops.

After we had finished at Bond Street we walked a short way to Oxford Street were we shopped at the massive Nike Town shop. Nike Town is a huge 4 story tall store full of all the Nike products you could ever imagine - sports shoes, sports exquipment, mens and women's clothing and more! The amount of women on the 4th floor wanting  Nike Free Runs was crazy!

The very busy Oxford Street

After leaving the Nike Town store in awe, we made our way to Tottenham, via the Tube, for a bite to eat. We found lovely pub called Montague Pyke, with delicious food and refreshing drinks. While the kids and mum tapped into the free wifi we all enjoyed a nice meal and rested our aching feet. We then headed down the road to the T-K-Maxx for another shop. This shop was also quite big with 4 stories full of clothes for men and women, shoes, accessories plus home and kitchen ware.

Music street in SoHo

Afterwards we hopped back onto another tube which took us to the Tower of London and the Tower Bridge (which is commonly mistaken for the London Bridge!) We arrived first at the Tower of London where the view was amazing! The grand Palace served as the home residence to royals in its early history, but has also been used as a prison from the year 1100 to 1952. The old stone brick walls of the tower spread across the large area, leading around to the Tower Bridge, is made up of several different buildings, two defensive walls and a moat around its entire outside. We stayed for a while watching the many tour boats floating along the River Thames, under the Tower Bridge, which was officially opened in the year 1894, on the 30th June. The bridge, still used daily by hundreds of thousands of people, is the home of the Crown Jewels, and is a wonderful site!

The Pope family infront of the Tower Bridge!
The Smiths in front of the Tower Bridge!

A road view of the Tower Bridge, asthough you were about to cross!

We walked back along the Tower Bridge road, away from the bridge, and back around to see the other side of the London Tower, which was equally as beautiful! We walked back to a Pub which we had seen on our way to the tower and bridge, Hung Drawn and Quartered, and sat down to rest our legs! After a quick toilet stop and drink each we caught the tube back to our motel, the Premiere Inn were we said our goodbyes to Gary, Katie, Jack and Lexie before they caught the train back to Penkridge, and left us with another day to explore the streets of London. We wandered down and finished of a great day with fresh pizzas and drinks from the motel resturant before very slowly making our way back up to our room for a very need, very well deserved sleep!

Highlights:

*Marni got stuck getting in and out of the Tube Station! Which ever ticket we gave her to use would never work! We all had a good laugh when she tried to go through with someone else! Poor old Marn:(

*We all made wishes as we through penny's into the London Tower Moat in hope that they will come true!

*The pizzas at the motel Resturant were delicious! I managed to get through a whole one, (they weren't huge, but they were fairly big) which I was very proud of!

*The music street in SoHo, a haunt of Elton Johns, so we are told!

Love Ash! xx
