Day 3 Cannock & Catching up with the locals

Today Katie took the day off work, and we headed to Cannock for a look around, and our first taste of Costas (kind of like Starbucks, but better!) it was lovely looking around the town that Katie grew up in, which is 15 minutes south of a Penkridge.
    Main Street in Cannock

    St Luke's Church, Cannock (Wedding here in June 2015)

One of the important jobs Katie and I had to do today, was book the church for her and Gary's wedding in June 2015, very exciting and such a beautiful church, and it was very special to share that moment with her. We then decided it was a must to celebrate with a Costas coffee each, and a slice of brownie and lemon tart!

We organised our phones, and it was decided that our cheapest option was to buy two prepaid phones, and with each phone costing £2.49 ($5.00) why wouldn't you!!  After looking around for a bit longer, it was time to head back to Penkridge. Katie drove Grant, Nathan & Marni home first, while Ashleigh and I (the two book lovers) wandered into the Cannock Library and headed straight to the travel section, taking a few sneaky photos of where we would like to go over the next few weeks! Once Katie was back to pick us up, we headed back to Penkridge via Ann and Bernard's home (Katie's parents), whom we met for the first time, and what gorgeous people they are. It was very special to be the first of Gary's family to meet Katie's parents. We picked up a spare Duvet (not a Doona) and home we went.

After relaxing at home for a bit, Kyle was itching for a walk, so we decided to head in the opposite direction along the canals, to where all the boats are moored, in a small canal boat harbour.  Katie, Grant, Kyle and I went, while Nathan, Marni and Ashleigh stayed home. We detoured past the playground for Kyle to expell some energy, but it seems Grant enjoyed the playground too! ;)

After a quiet afternoon, Grant and Kyle headed to cricket training with Gary, Jack and Lexie.  It was decided that the rest of us would head to the club around 7ish. After a couple of champagnes, and a lovely chat, Katie and I were ready to head off, but when I went to find the kids, only Ashleigh (who had had a three hour nap during the afternoon) was ready to go, both Nathan and Marni were sound asleep. After trying to wake them, with no chance, Ash, Katie and I left them behind, we left a note to call if they wanted to be picked up. We never heard from them, and when we got home, they were both still fast asleep, it seemed the travel had finally caught up with them!

    Ashleigh, Lexie, Libby & Erin (Spike and Lisa's two gorgeous girls)

After a few bevvies at the cricket club and a catch up with a few of the locals, including Spike who we haven't seen in 15 years, it was home we went.

Highlights

* Meeting Bernard & Ann
* Costas coffee (definitely not as good as the coffee back in Australa, but the best we have had here so far!)

Lots of love,

Chrissie x
